Causio provides an AI-powered legal case management platform designed for European law firms. The service includes AI-driven client intake, evidence analysis, case management, document storage, client portal, and third-party integrations (“the Service”). Access to specific features depends on your subscription plan.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials and for all activities under your account. Organizations (law firms) are managed through Clerk, and the account owner is responsible for user management within their organization.
The Service is offered on a subscription basis with monthly or annual billing cycles processed via Stripe. Prices are listed in Euros. AI credits are included with each plan and reset monthly. Additional credits can be purchased as top-up packs. Purchased credits do not expire. Subscription changes take effect as described in the pricing documentation.
AI-generated analysis, summaries, evidence scores, and recommendations are provided as decision-support tools. They do not constitute legal advice. Licensed attorneys remain solely responsible for all legal decisions, client communications, and case outcomes. AI outputs should always be reviewed and verified by a qualified legal professional before reliance.
You retain all rights to data you upload to the Service. Causio retains all rights to the platform, its design, underlying technology, and AI models. We do not claim ownership of your case data, documents, or client information. We do not use your data to train AI models.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Causio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based.
Data processing is governed by our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement (DPA). For organizations processing personal data of EU residents, a DPA is available upon request. We act as a data processor on behalf of your organization (the data controller) for case-related data.
We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance windows will be communicated in advance. We are not liable for disruptions caused by third-party service providers, internet connectivity issues, or force majeure events.
Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. You may cancel your subscription via the billing portal. Upon termination, you have 30 days to export your data. After 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our data retention policy. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance via email or a prominent notice within the platform. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with a modification, you must cease using the Service and cancel your subscription before the effective date.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Causio, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the applicable member state where Causio is incorporated. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable EU law.
